January is the perfect time to take a look back over the previous year and see what went right and what we could do better. When we took the time to crunch our numbers, we were thrilled to see that they continue to grow exponentially! Thank you to our faithful GoKid users who have told their friends, schools, and employers all about our app and our mission.
Our Users are Saving the Environment!
While there is plenty of bad news about the environment, we are seeing some really positive changes taking place. For instance, in 2019, “California passed a bill for a 75% reduction in single-use plastics, and Maine voted to ban single-use plastic shopping bags statewide.” Plus, we’ve also seen the youth of the world take their passion for the environment to the streets in powerful ways.
Even if you are not part of these “big news stories,” we know you are doing your part. In 2019 alone, carpoolers on GoKid stopped 2,250 tons of CO2 from going into the atmosphere!
Our Users are Saving So Much Time!
At GoKid, we want to save families time. Instead of several individual family vehicles on the road going to the same place at the same time, our hope is for multiple families to share one load and save driving time. And it’s working! In 2019, parents using GoKid saved 191,500 hours by sharing their driving responsibilities, leaving 470,975 cars at home that would otherwise have been on the road.
Our Users are Saving A Lot of Gas!
Another perk of being a GoKid user is saving gas. Since you aren’t driving your children back and forth to everything using your own gas each time, you save money on gas and have fewer miles on your vehicle. Our numbers show GoKid users had 5 million miles of driving saved in 2019. With an average of 22 mpg and an average US-wide cost of $2.50 per gallon, this means over half a million dollars worth of fuel was saved!
Our Users are Carpooling Outside of School!
GoKid has already made a huge difference when it comes to school carpools – even rolling out GoKid Connect for whole schools to use. In 2019, we received the Planet M grant for a Michigan mobility solution, which has given GoKid the opportunity for a school pilot program in the state.
But, we are thrilled to see that GoKid users are using GoKid for more than school drop-off and pick-up. For instance, our reports show that GoKid is used for sports quite a bit, with the words “practice” and “training” used in over 2,500 recurring carpool titles. Additionally, soccer, basketball, swim, football, and hockey were commonly used titles for carpool titles in 2019.
Our App is Gaining More and More Recognition!
In addition to receiving grants and earning awards, GoKid is gaining recognition within the mobility industry for our carpool management app. But what really stands out is how many drivers are making use of GoKid in their day-to-day lives. As a result of growth, we have been able to help even more families. We initially had a goal to help families in the United States, but now we are proud to be helping families around the world. GoKid is currently being used in 25 countries!
